Singaraja is the former capital of Bali. It’s a city with hospitals, pharmacies, various banks, and markets where you’ll be impressed with the colours and smell of Balinese dishes. Singaraja is home of the Gedong Kirtya Library that hosts the famous Lontar manuscripts and Balinese literature. The harbour of Singaraja shows signs of Dutch colonialism with its old storage houses.
A 40-metre-high waterfall. A 1-km path filled with souvenir warungs and shops where you can buy cheap clothes leads you to one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Bali. Sit down and relax with the sound of the water falling to the river.
Lovina is the ideal place to discover the underwater world of Bali. There are many PADI-certified diving schools that can teach you to dive. Menjangan Island is one of the spots near Lovina where one can discover the colourful underwater world. Amed and Tulamben (wreck dive) are within reach as well.
Many of the local fishermen can take you snorkeling or fishing in Lovina. There is enough to see at the local coral reef. You can even try spear fishing.

The dolphin watching tour in this place is quite different, where most of the traditional boats are used to explore the ocean. The wave at Lovina is calmer than at Nusa Dua, however. The best time to visit is in the morning since dolphins feed at this time. It is advisable then to stay overnight at Lovina Beach.
In the hills of Banjar is the Buddhist monastery. It sits on a fabulous location and has a very peaceful ambience. Go there just to see it or meditate and return refreshed.

Bali has many temples, each with their own meaning. East of Lovina you can find Beji Temple in Sangsit, which is dedicated to the Rice Goddess, while the Jagaraja Temple remembers the battles against the Dutch. To the west of Lovina is Pulaki Temple. Monkeys, considered descendants of Dewa (God), crowd the site. Ulundanu Temple is located near Bedugul.
Large garden complex with many statues and flora.
A curling road takes you to Air Sanih, a natural fresh water pool, just a few kilometers from Singaraja.
In Munduk, you’ll find many picturesque rice terraces and you can do some jungle trekking there as well.
In the west where the National Park is located, you can be trekking through one of the most natural places in Bali. There is much flora and fauna to be seen, like the endangered Bali Starling. Guides are available.
Great views of volcanic lakes, with plantations of flowers. You can even buy strawberries there.
In Lovina, there are cosy bars where you can enjoy a cocktail or beer and live music.
If you rent a motorbike or car it’s really worth it to drive around the village around Lovina. You’ll be surprised with what you’ll discover there. You’ll probably run into a marriage ceremony or cremation somewhere, where people will invite you to join, if you’re daring enough. Try one of the warungs in the villages, and eat and dine like the Balinese.
